Two education seminars were offered, providing participants the opportunity to earn continuing education credits approved in both New York state and New Jersey. The first course, Flood Insurance, taught by Sheldon Hansen, CIC, CRM, Brouwer Hansen and Izdebski Associates, took place during the morning session. Hanson covered the basics of the Federal Emergency Management Agency’s National Flood Insurance Program and provided a primer about the NFIP so agents can share this information with their clients. Cathy Trischan, CPCU, CIC, AU, AAI, CRM, CRIS, was the instructor for Errors & Omissions: Reducing the risk, a seminar that reviewed the costs of E&O to an agency.

In the afternoon, Cathy Trischan, CPCU, CIC, AU, AAI, CRM, CRIS, was the instructor for Errors & Omissions: Reducing the risk, a seminar that reviewed the costs of E&O to an agency; sources of E&O claims; actions that agencies should and should not take when facing an E&O situation; and a look at the overall claims process. The class offered specific measures to help an agency reduce the probability of a successful E&O claim being made against it.

“Errors and omissions claims are on the rise and agents throughout the industry want to know how to protect themselves in these litigious times. Additionally, new mandatory flood requirements bring the necessity of flood CE to every agency,” said Cracco. “MetroRAP is proud to have offered timely and relevant education sessions concerning these issues.”
